My Little Tank Review Print E-mail

You can compare prices of PC Games and buy online today.

My Little Tank is an action/strategy game developed by Astraware for your Pocket PC. The aim of the game is quite simple; destroy all other tanks whilst keeping your own intact. In reality their is obviously more to it than this with variations in the objectives including defensive roles such as guarding buildings as well as the expected offensive missions.

The game introduces itself well with clearly labelled instructions and a difficulty level that gets progressively higher as you progress; this is a key aspect of any good action/strategy game. The game supports screens up to 640x480 pixels as well as Windows Mobile 5 although you will have to play the game in portrait screen orientation so there's no using the SPV M5000's keyboard for example. To complete the rounded feel of the game all menus have been well designed and are clear and easy to use as well as being good to look at. You'll find all of the usual options available for adjusting the sound and specifying a screen resolution as well as being able to choose the colour of your tank and there is a comprehensive help document included too.

The graphics and sound on the game are what we've grown to expect from an Astraware game, crisp and well rounded even if they're not groundbreaking, I guess a game of this genre with a top down viewpoint is never going to blow you away but the detail that is there is sufficient with the landscape and numerous tanks on the screen all displaying in 3D as opposed to an outright plan view which would have been the simpler but less effective implementation.

Game play is simple but effective, the mission objectives are clear and easy to understand but become longer and harder to complete as you progress, the intelligence of the computer driven tanks can occasionally be questionable but on the whole the game offers an entertaining and progressive challenge. With 60 levels you won't complete this game in an hour either which is always nice.

To summarise, if you like your strategy games with a bit of shooting action then My Little Tank is well worth a look, click here to download a trial for both Pocket PC and Smartphone.
