Here's the final instalment of the MSMobileNews.com Christmas Gadget Guide, introducing the Mobis Speaker Dock!

What is it?

A speaker dock for your Smartphone/Pocket PC, the Mobis Speaker Dock.

Why is it cool?

Ever wanted a bit more from the music playing from your Smartphone and/or Pocket PC? Well here's the solution, a speaker dock for your mobile device that not only plays your music out loud but also charges and synchronises your phone at the same time!

Is it any good?

In a word, yes! Not only is it the coolest docking station for your phone providing synchronisation and charging capabilities but it also allows you to play your music out loud at a better quality than would be the case were you using the phone's built in loud speaker. The dock is mains powered which allows it to play our music that bit louder than would be the case if it were battery powered or driven purely from the phone itself which is great news. It's never going to be a replacement for your stereo but as a portable dock and loud speaker it fits the bill perfectly. The dock has volume control buttons on its front as well as a power switch and a headphone jack should you wish to listen to your music privately without removing your phone from the dock itself. There is also a jack socket in the back of the unit to allow you to plug other devices such as MP3 players into the speakers which means that the dock will not only play music from your phone but also from pretty much any device that has a headphone socket, all you'll need is the re to link the two! There are two slightly different models of the Mobis Speaker Dock, the only difference being the connectivity in that the Pocket PC version has its USB and headphone jacks in the opposite orientation to that of the Smartphone version, purely because that is the way that the sockets are positioned on the two phones themselves. The unit is aimed at the Orange SPV range, also known as the Dopods/SDAs/Qteks/I-Mates in both Smartphone and Pocket PC formats, you simply have to make your decision over which dock you require for which device. The Mobis Speaker Dock is a great looking device; it is a little plasticky but is a mobile device that fits its purpose very well.

I want one! How much? Where from?

Simply put, Expansys for £51.95 inc. VAT.
