Krusell SPV M5000/O2 XDA Exec/T-Mobile MDA Pro case Print E-mail

Krusell have done it again with a rather smart case for your SPV M5000/O2 XDA Exec/T-Mobile MDA Pro/HTC Universal. The case that comes bundled with the M5000 is a slip case that means that you have to remove the phone to use it however Krusell’s alternative features a thin plastic film that covers the screen and two metal poppers to allow the case to hinge with the phone. The case holds onto the phone with a plastic pocket that wraps around the keyboard and has a leather back, the plastic film means that you lose some of the feel of the keys which is a shame however the device is still useable and this is probably a problem that a lot of people will be happy to put up with in return for protecting their precious (and expensive) device!

You can compare prices of PDA Accessories and buy online today.

As with all Krusell cases that I’ve reviewed, the M5000 case has the usual cut-outs for keys, speakers and the camera which is always a great touch and it means that you can truly use the phone whilst still in the case.

Krusell use their own Multidapt® system to allow users to connect their devices to various clips including belt clips, car holders and even bike holders, I personally use their clip with a vent mount and it works seamlessly, it means that my vent mount works with any device that I have a Krusell case for which is the real advantage of using the Multidapt® system on all cases.

Ultimately users need to make their minds up on whether this case will suit them or not however I can’t give it enough of a glowing review, it is a far greater solution to that of the supplied slip case and as such is worth £17.95 of any M5000 owners’ money! The case is available from MobileFun.co.uk at this price so what are you waiting for?

I've had the O2 Xda Exec for almost a year, and all I can say us this machine rules. I've had only minor problems with it which I will describe, and which I consider negligible given that I use it on a fairly constant basis as a phone and organizer. I sync daily with MS Outlook. Since my contacts are on the phone, I always know who is calling as long as they are on my contact list. The synchronization with Outlook is FLAWLESS which is more than I can say for any PDA I've ever had, and I've had quite a few, each with their own sync problems. The O2 has a lot of memory so doesn't crash easily, but it does freeze up sometimes which is easily resolved by hitting the reset button in the back. The screen switches easily from laptop position to pda position. Fyi, I barely use most of its really fancy features, so cant attest to their utility, including the camera, video and music features. From what I have fiddled with them, they seem to work fine. I dont use any of the internet or other wireless functions, so I cant attest to their utility either, though frankly I cant see the advantage of having those features on such a tiny screen, and I imagine that the memory limitations would be rather prohibitive. Another thing: putting the phone against my ear gave me headaches, so i switched to headphones which work much better. The keyboard is fine, although I find the clicks it makes when you type to be a little annoying if you ever want to type at a quiet meeting, and also dont expect to be able to touch type on this keyboard, it's too small for that. The Xda Exec works well with an SD memory card. I use the long life battery (got it cheap from a Chinese seller on e-bay) which adds a couple millimeters of thickness, but is worthwhile since it allows you to use the device all day without worrying about running out of power. I also paid $20 for the Energizer recharger unit to keep on hand for emergencies when the battery runs itself out, which happenned to me once. I highly recommend a soft zipper case and velcro to attach the unit onto the inside of the case to protect it, always keep it in the case, and keep it zipped when not in use. This method makes a lot more sense than the hard cases, which dont allow you to open and close it. Of course also get a screen protector film. One other problem is that the ring/vibrate selector seems to have a bug, so I basically have to choose between global vibrate, ring or silent, without being able to select combinations such as vibrate for calls and ring for sms. A few other quirks: no simple way to record an audio note. The arrow keys on the keyboard sometimes fail, so you have to touch the screen to move the cursor (which is usually easier anyway), and i no longer use the pocket ms word since it showed a proclivity to freeze up without saving my changes. For my personal purposes, which I've described, the few drawbacks of the device are far outweighed by the benefits of this quality device.
