Here are our photos from the HTC Press Conference yesterday taken from the front row centre where they announced their Q4 2007 lineup which is made ...
Thanks to Tim Uidam who has emailed us with some more information he's spotted on the AXIA A308 and another (possibly two?) Windows Mobile based devices to come from VIPN, the manufacturer of the AXIA range as we can now call it.
I came across some more information on the A308, firtsly the fact that the screen is touchscreen whilst the device maintains the look and feel of a regular phone with a numeric keypad.
One of the more interesting tid-bits is that the device will allegedly include full SIP 2.0 functionality to "allow seamless roaming between GSM & WiFi networks" and "make VOIP calls when you're in areas where the WiFi is stronger than the cell signal".
Nice spot Tim! Further more there definitely seems to be at least on more mobile phone in their range that uses Windows Mobile technology, this time in the form of a Smartphone it seems, the clamshell shown (EMXI M5) gives no hint as to the Operating System it is running but the candy bar phone (EMXI 700) is definitely displaying a Smartphone screen. Both devices are advertised as offering WiFi and no doubt the full SIP 2.0 functionality in the same way as the A308 will do. Ultimately this means that if you can get a WiFi signal then you can make VoIP calls at a much cheaper rate than using your network operator - imagine using your mobile phone to make a call whilst utilising your home or office WiFi, I'm sensing free calls!
