At MSMobileNews.com we hate it when someone tries to make a profit out of a program that already exists as freeware, you know the kind of thing, selling backgounds, ringtones, homescreens etc. as well as applications (how many freeware snake games are there? Definately enough to justify not buying a commercial version!). So whilst reading this article over at msmobiles.com we were shocked that nothing was made of the fact that a freeware version of the application in question exists.

Basically msmobiles.com is reporting the release of a 'Bluetooth Switch for Microsoft Smartphone 2003', this application is being sold for $1.98! Now we ask ourselves, do the people who buy this program realise that they can download an application named BTToggle from MoDaCo for free! All you have to do is register on MoDaCo but then if you haven't done that already then you must be clueless to the way of the Smartphone! Both applications perform exactly the same operation, they automatically toggle Bluetooth on or off and can be assigned to a speed dial key so that this can be achieved with a single click of a button. Why msmobiles.com didn't point out the fact that there is a freeware alternative is beyond me, we do our best to keep you guys informed, not only about news but with educated articles that will stop you falling into the pitfalls of the Smartphone world, one such pitfall is spending money when you don't need to!

So here's the conclusion, don't believe the hype behind everything you read, check MSMobileNews.com before you buy jump in at the deep end and buy software that has a freeware alternative and register at MoDaCo, it really is the best place to find all of the answers to your Smartphone questions!

Cheers,

Marc

Ps. I haven't posted a link to the commercial application, why would I!?

Pps. msmobiles.com has now added a link to the freeware alternative in their article, nice one!
