Here is a quick report of what we got up to on Saturday, at the MoDaCo meet, Monolithix, as normal did a grand job organizing the MoDaCo summer meet at the msn building in Soho, (I was going to ask why they have there offices down the road from the ‘naughty’ shops, but thought better of it)
We all met up at 12ish, and had some coffee and a bit of a chat and Paul and Mono introduced everyone, we had people from orange, Microsoft, Astraware, PDAMill and the guys with the car thing (sorry, I forgot your name)

The rest of the meet is a bit of a blur as I spent lots of my time chatting to as many people as possible (big hellos to John from Astaware,  various Andys, Marks, Daves and Johns, Razord, and Thomas from PDAMill, and young MCWarre)

The highlights of the ‘before-quiz’ chats for me where:

  • working out a way to kidnap paul and his M5000
  • lots of oohs and aaahs at the secret new stuff astraware have coming out soon, anything with a jiggle toggle in the options will be worth having
  • the free beer (we drank responsibly, 60 people, 200 beers, no falling over)
  • the pizza (a little cool, but it was filling)
  • the traffic wardens, who for some reason didnÂ’t think it was strange to have a huddle of geeks standing outside the ms building drinking beer and smoking

The world famous pub quiz by Will was definitely set to “expert” mode, congrats to Disco Stu and his team for winning this time (they where the runners up in brum behind us!).

Unfortunately during the chats and the quiz the meet took a turn for the worse, some inconsiderate *insert word that Brody will delete here* decided that it would be clever to walk off with one of the prizes in the raffle, it put a downer on the meet, and whoever nicked it, you ruined a lovely day for everyone (and MCWarre isnÂ’t that impressed as his winning ticket would have won him that phone).

So after the quiz, which Disco Stu won, we had the raffle (which Will won, and IÂ’m sure Paul didnÂ’t mean to pull WillÂ’s ticket out (and other innuendo)) we retired to the local spoons, for a swift post meet beer, then to the only pub I can never remember the name of for more beers, and this time it was the naughty mods being told to be quite or get thrown out, after some more unsuccessful attempts to kidnap Paul and his m5000 (which is a lovely phone) we went for more food: all you can eat Chinese, which was yummy.

Then we retired to a pub, which apart from SpacemonkeyÂ’s game of gay chicken he was playing with awarner, went very smoothly, I did find out some nice details about PDAMillÂ’s secret SatNav product, they say its going to kick TomTom off the top-spot, and when they let me say more about it, IÂ’ll let you guys know, then Will needed to take his Xbox home to bed, so a bit of tube based fun and back to the land of roundabouts and random art cows ;)

If you can ignore the random acts of stupid, it was probably the best meet yet, so fingers crossed we can have a public hanging and maybe Orange and Microsoft will let us have another party

Thanks to Mono for organizing it, David from Orange and Microsoft for funding it, Paul for letting me come to it, and all but one of the guests for making it a fun Saturday afternoon.
