Ok, this is a little preview of Spectec's miniSD Wi-Fi card. I have literally just got it, haven't even installed PPC drivers yet let alone tracked down the Smartphone drivers but im working on it. As you can see it doesnt fit into the internal miniSD slot of the Tyhpoon/Hurricane devices but does fit perfectly (with an SD adaptor) into the M500 with a bit poking out. Obviously it will have no problems in an MPx220 and i'll take pictures to prove that when the missus gets home as she recently splashed out on one. Might even see if it'll run in an MPx200 if i can find it ;)
Now obviously this is just a preview so you'll have to wait for the full review in the near future. See below for bigger pictures. (Scoll right down)
*UPDATE-[11pm]* I've modded my spare C500 to take the card and it looks pretty cool. Fits well too :D Check out the pics at the bottom and yes i know my camera is crap. Anyone wishing to donate a decent camera can email nedge2k AT msmobilenews.com ;)
*UPDATE-2-[4am]* Ok, this is bad news im afraid. While the card works perfectly with PocketPC devices (using the SD driver not miniSD driver), it does not work with the Smartphone's i have tested. Why? Spectec tell me it is because their driver is not working properly yet which would normally be good news as all they have to do is finish it and everything will be fine. Here's the bad part, Spectec told me that the Smartphones i tested the card on (C500 and MPx220) are not SDIO compatible! I may have overlooked something here but i was sure that at the very least the MPx220 was SDIO? There was speculation on whether the Typhhoon was or not due to it being internal miniSD but there was nothing concrete. They could be wrong, i hope they are wrong. I think i'll reserve judgement on this until they have a fully working drivers available.
