As you know, some of the bundled PIM applications that come with Smartphones and PocketPC's are pants (EDIT: that means rubbish for anyone not in the UK! -Marc) compared to the Palm ones, which when your out and about makes it a bit of a chore to add a new appointment or reschedule something. Well, now you can happily go out and have business meetings/social life and not have the fear of a double booking thanks to the guys and girls at SBSH.
Before I go into the details of why I think Papyrus is great I need to explain what a scatterbrain I am, my calendar is basically full of important things I need to do like get up on a work day, remember to watch 24 on Sundays, which projects at work are behind schedule and when the next milestone meeting is and write reviews for MSMN. Some things are in Outlook at home, some are in the Exchange Server and the others get forgotten because i'm lazy and can't be bothered to put them in, with Papyrus all this has changed. Well I now know when the deadline goes wooshing past instead of the normal blank and confused look I normaly have when someone says 'have you done that important thing for Bob yet?'.
The simple calendar replacement
You can use Papyrus as a simple calendar replacement, which is a bit unfair to the guys at SBSH, but its probably how 80% of you guys are going to use it.
Basically it gives you a easier to read appointments screen, a nice colour coded week and month view and the week planner view.
The more adventurous users out there will hopefully see the value added features that have been crammed into Papyrus...
The features I used were:
- Assigning contacts to appointments in one easy click
- Colour coding items so I can see at a glance which project/ customer the meeting is for
- The grid view so I know which days are good days for hangovers/slacking/getting the work done
- And the only thing the bank can't seem to do, repeating items on the last Friday of the month (yes I know that Outlook does this, but I hope someone at my bank (IF) is reading this and gets something sorted!)
The bottom line
I like this application, I like it a lot, I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't use the calendar functions on the phone but should.
I give this a well earned 8/10
Papyrus is available directly from SBSH and is also a MoDaCo Plus benifit which gives you even more reason to support the best Smartphone forum on the net.
