If you own an HTC Kaiser but want to network unlock it then look no further than imei-check who are offering this service for £20. This is the latest in a line of commercial unlocking tools from imei-check so you can feel confident in the process (we've used them before for previous devices.
Samsung have finally released a Windows Mobile 6 ROM upgrade for the i600.
Owners should download the software from this link and be prepared to wipe all of their data during the process (this means back everything up first!).
Is this the Palm Treo 800w? Who knows, all we do know is that the two device next to it are the Centro and the 500 so it would make sense that this is the 800w, having said that I'm not sure I want it to be the case as it doesn't look that slick, aesthetically at least.
Quote:
Are we staring at the new Treo 800w? We obviously know what's up with the Centro and the 500 (namely the 500v), so the only missing ID in that lineup is the 800, successor to the 700-series flagship throne. Well, if this thing is the 800w we do kind of hope Palm tosses that fish back. Rearranging the WinMo buttons and giving the phone a more industrial, geeky look does not a greater Treo make, so unless this thing is like half as thin as current-gen devices (which it won't be, Palm seems pretty dogmatic about keeping its devices thick), it'll just be more of the same.
AT&T have announced the Samsung BlackJack II (aka Samsung SGH-i617) which, as expected will feature Windows Mobile 6 Standard (Smartphone), quadband GSM/EDGE/GPRS, triband 3G UMTS/HSDPA connectivity, Bluetooth 2.0 +EDR, integrated GPS, 2.0 megapixel camera increased standard memory over the original BlackJack, 2.4" colour display and a QWERTY keyboard.
The BlackJack II will come in a choice of black or red wine colours.
More announcements from i-mate but still no commercial availability. While these 2 new phones are very impressive and bring at last almost everything users would need (including GPS at last!), what users really expect from i-mate is immediate commercial availability and not just more announcements...
i-mate Ultimate 8502: QWERTY keyboard (fixed), built-in GPS, 3.5G (HSDPA), fast uploads (HSUPA), WiFi, Bluetooth, video output for projectors & displays, QVGA (240x320) display.
i-mate Ultimate 9502: QWERTY keyboard (under the display that is sliding out!), built-in GPS, 3.5G (HSDPA), fast uploads (HSUPA), WiFi, Bluetooth, video output for projectors & displays, VGA (640x480) display.
The news from msmobiles.com is that i-mate have announced two more devices from their Ultimate range, the 8502 and 9502 however neither are currently commercially available unfortunately. This is a shame as they both have a decent feature list including GPS, HSDPA, HSUPA, WiFI and so on...
If you're bored of not having TouchFLO like functionality (see it in action here) on your Pocket PC then Touch Commander may be of interest to you. It offers what can only be described as a polite rip off of the TouchFLO interface (albeit with some minor alterations) to non-TouchFLO devices!
Quote:
Touch Commander - a unique application for controlling PDA and smartphones by recognizing and responding to the touch and sweep of a finger across the screen. With Touch Commander in place, you get a one-touch access to phone calls, emails, SMS messages, calendar, appointments, applications and other commonly used content.
The “touchy-feely” effect provided by Touch Commander is much the same as the finger touch scrolling, browsing and spinning a three dimensional interface by the finger in the Touch phone by HTC TouchFLO or Apple iPhone. Touch Commander is customizable, letting you configure many of its settings. Another nice touch in the program is support for any model of PDA powered by Microsoft Windows Mobile 5 or higher. But the biggest specialty, of course, lies in the price, which is nothing compared to the prices of the hi-end phones.
Touch Commander makes a good antidote to the iPhone or TouchFLO envy. As the old English saying goes “If you can’t be with the one you love, love the one you’re with.” You can resist the Apple charmer’s curves and touchy-feely navigation if you install Touch Commander. It’ll make even an old school PDA look and feel so much stylish and fresh!
This is a warning to all of you who like to flash. What? No of course I don't mean that kind of flashing, I'm referring to the re-flashing of your phone's ROM of course! The Orange UK website is now showing the HTC TyTN II which is great news however it would appear that early attemptes to flash the device with HTC's own standard ROM image are rendering devices SIM locked and therefore un-usable!
