Vodafone Business Email + Windows Mobile 6 = Headache! Print E-mail

VodafoneVodafone Business Email is great right? The first operator to offer their own branded Blackberry-competitor solution utilising the services of Visto. Well that's all well and good but what happens when a company, on instruction, buys a set of brand spanking new HTC S710 Windows Mobile 6 Smartphones, thus embracing mobile email technology? They get let down, that's what happens! You see it would appear that Visto's solution is currently not Windows Mobile 6 compatible, it is yet to be released to Vodafone who in turn will then have to perform their own testing before releasing it to the customer!

Anyone need an HTC S710?

I got hit with this too - shop manager on Fleet Street said that the Vodafone V1415 (HTC S710 rebadged) would work with the VBE, which is not true as the .CAB file which you download simply doesn't install on the Windows Mobile 6 device. Tech Support are checking into the timetable for release of the compatible version, but they have yet to get back to me with a date. Customer Services were great though, I now have an "old tech" V1605 (HTC TyTyn) and VBE works great.

Anyone know when Vodafone will be releasing an update to VBE that works with WM6? I upgraded my Palm 750v today and now can't use email. No warnings... thanks Palm!

Vodafone VBE users will be pleased to hear that Vodafone has a pre-release version of their push email client available upon request. So if you've upgraded your Palm 750v to WM6, there is solution - although officially unsupported.

Hello Dale,

I am very much interested in knowing how you managed to get VBE working with mobile 6.
Can anyone also advise where to get that pre-release version from Vodaphone?
Thanks,

Has this been solved yet? I have just got a v1615 (TyTN II) with VBE but I can't get it to activate. I can download the file when prompted (vf_uk_wm2005.cab) and it installs but when it tries to activate it complains that it can't connect and I should check I can access the data connection using explorer - which works fine.

Help! Do we need to wait for some wm2006 version to appear?
